Lay Academy Sessions: January 20th and 27th

Welcoming the stranger and getting to know one’s neighbors, be they inside or outside the pew, has never been the easiest of missions.  At first glance it may appear like we have nothing in common with some people but we need to commit to listening and connecting, to going a step beyond.

Join us for the LAY ACADEMY session on Saturday June 3rd and 10th as we discuss and learn about ‘loving others as ourselves’.  We feature speakers from across the four western synods for 2 x 2.5 hour sessions on Building Community: Welcoming the Stranger/Loving Our Neighbor, facilitated by Rev. Dave Saude of the Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario Synod.

The Lay Academy is a new program of the Lutheran Theological Seminary and four Western Synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC), that seeks to provide continuing education opportunities for lay people in the church and for those being prepared for the ELCIC’s National Authorized Lay Ministry program.   The 'LA' sessions are provided through a unique online format that allows multiple sites from across the four Western provinces and Territories to listen and interact with the presenter at the same time, while also enjoying discussion led by a facilitator within a local church setting.  It makes for a collaborative teaching and learning experience!

The sessions are slated to run from 9:40 am to 12:10 pm.   Further information on Registration Fees and sites of attendance can be found here.  The cost is $30.00 per session or $55.00 for both.
