The Canadian Poverty Institute, housed at Ambrose University, is pleased to invite you and your congregation to participate in our annual Poverty Studies Summer Institute, KNOW poverty. The Summer Institute is a unique opportunity that brings together students, practitioners, ministry workers and lay persons in an intimate learning community. Participants engage in active learning and discussion about the causes and impacts of poverty, as well as best practices for how to alleviate and end it. The program runs over the course of 3 weeks and includes 1-day and 3-day workshops as well as 5-day courses. Topics cover the material, social and spiritual dimensions of poverty, providing both the knowledge and skill base to work effectively in the practice of Poverty Reduction.

In particular, we are offering two courses that may be off special interest:

Community Development for Local Congregations, a course that focusses on how your church can make a real difference in your neighbourhood, and;

Human Rights and Poverty, a course that includes discussion of human rights in Judeo-Christian theology and faith-based practice.
