Today we celebrate mothers with this prayer:

"Nurturing God, we thank you for giving us the precious gift of mothers. We are grateful for mothers who have shared their “passion for living and sharing Jesus Christ” with us. We pray for the grace to forgive those who have disappointed, abused or abandoned us. Please care for those who have never known their birth mothers. Comfort those who mourn the deaths of their mother, whether recently or in the past. We thank you for those who have been like a mother to us. And God, we thank you especially for your mothering love. Amen."
