Expectation. Preparation. Anticipation. Hope. Longing. And then, Good News!

We have all gone through the process of waiting for something yearned for. It is no different now than it was in days past.

Today, as is then, there is the hunger for good news. And finally it arrives - Christ is Coming!

Advent – the season where the we prepare not just for celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, but also for Christ’s second coming, as we remember how our Lord comes to us in our daily lives.

The Lay Academy is a program of the Lutheran Theological Seminary in connection with the Western Synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC), that seeks to provide continuing education opportunities for lay people in the church and for those being prepared for the ELCIC’s National Authorized Lay Ministry program. Our current 'LA' sessions are provided through a unique online format that allows multiple sites from across the four Western provinces and Territories to listen and interact with the presenter at the same time, while also enjoying discussion led by a facilitator within a local church setting.
